For those times when comfort is king.

The average American spends hundreds of hours inside of a car each year. Given that, shouldn't you want to make sure a car's cabin as comfortable as possible? The seats may not seem like that big of a deal when you're test driving, but after sitting in rush hour traffic day after day, they become critical features.

Interiors come in many different forms and styles, all with different noise levels, features, seats and space. Here's a list of some of the most comfortable cars currently for sale, with input from  Consumer Reports. These are the vehicles you'll want to take a look at if you face a long daily commute.

Head on through to see the most comfortable rides. Although many of them are luxury vehicles, not all of them are for the one percent.

The Audi A6 in the Premium Plus trim is among the most comfortable cars on the road. It boasts a quiet cabin, a smooth ride that doesn't feel overly stiff at slow speeds and cushy front seats that offer great support. The A6 is luscious both inside and out, which adds to the comfort level.

    Buick LaCrosse

Consumer Reports called the LaCrosse a "sophisticated and thoroughly modern sedan that is quiet, roomy and luxurious." We'd certainly agree with that. While the LaCrosse isn't the most fun car to drive, it rides like it's on a cloud with a wonderfully soft suspension and interior sound dampening.

    Chevrolet Impala

The Chevrolet Impala is a large sedan that surprised almost everyone with its level of refinement when it was last redesigned in 2013. This car employs a striking exterior design, a nice ride and a plush cabin, complete with great seats and loads of room in the front and in the back.

The Ford Fusion Titanium, which is the sedan's highest trim level, comes with a super quiet cabin, great seats and a very nice interior aesthetic. The car is also sleekly designed and gets great fuel economy, making it one of the top midsize sedans in the country right now.

What the Lexus ES lacks in driving dynamics, it accounts for with its interior. The interior is blissfully quiet, with barely audible road and wind noise. The wide seats are comfortable and the ride is super soft, making long trips in this car a piece of cake. The ES is also one of the most reliable cars on the planet.

    Lexus LS 460L

The big, expensive, plush Lexus LS 460L "delivers luxurious, highly refined and fuss-free motoring with a comfortable and serene ride," according to Consumer Reports. We're inclined to agree. The flagship sedan for Lexus is remarkably comfortable, with soft-touch surfaces almost everywhere. The cabin is deathly silent, too.
