Dodge was founded as Dodge Brothers, after Horace and John, who founded the company as a parts supplier before assembling complete cars in 1914. The company was purchased by Chrysler in 1928. Dodge became the volume player for Chrysler’s portfolio of brands, analogous to Chevrolet. During the 1960s and 1970s, Dodge produced some legendary muscle cars such as the Charger. For decades, the Ram was Dodge’s full-size pickup, but it was spun off as its own brand in the late 2000s. Dodge currently produces an assortment of muscle and sports cars, including the Charger and Challenger. There are also a couple of SUVs, the Durango and the Journey. The Viper is, sadly, out of production.
