This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. This is the ultimate version of the Demon. There will not be a bigger badder version of the Challenger other than this. Dodge is slamming the door shut on its maniacal muscle car with the final Last Call model: the 1,025-horsepower 2023 Challenger Demon 170. Yep, it's a four-figure Challenger (at least when it's running on E85 ethanol). And that's where it gets its 170 designation — that's the proof number for E85's ethanol content. That's not to say it's slow when running on pump gas. Run it on premium (91 or 93 octane), and it makes 900 horsepower and 810 pound-feet of torque, which is still more than the original Challenger SRT Demon. It comes with standard Mickey Thompson ET Street R street legal drag tires developed just for the Demon 170. They're the same 315-mm width at the rear, but are so soft and sticky, that Dodge stiffened up the suspension so that less of the energy from the engine was lost just shifting weight up and back for traction. But don't worry, the Demon 170 can still pull the front wheels off the pavement with a good launch. JOEL STOCKSDALE: This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. This is the ultimate version of the Demon. There will not be a bigger, badder version of the Challenger other than this. And the 170 stands for the alcohol proof content of ethanol because this thing runs on E85. It makes 1,025 horsepower and 945 pound feet of torque. That's all running on E85. And the ECU will sense that it's running on E85 and it can dial that back if you're running premium fuel so that you don't blow it up.

And if you do happen to decide to run it on just premium gas, it'll still make 900 horsepower and 810 pound feet of torque. They did this by replacing almost everything about the standard Hellcat V8. It's got an upgraded supercharger, upgraded head studs, upgraded main caps, rods, pistons, axles. They've gone through almost every part of this to make it handle that kind of power. And that kind of power has a lot of tire to help keep it on the road, specifically a dragstrip.

That's because it comes standard with Mickey Thompson ET Street R tires. They're on the front and the back. They're street-legal drag slicks. And they've done a little bit of weight savings too. This particular example is fitted with the optional wheels with carbon fiber rims and lightweight centers. It's also misses the front fender flares from other Challengers. And all of this combined on a prepped dragstrip, it will go from zero to 60 in 1.66 seconds and will do the 1/4 mile in 8.9 seconds at 151 miles per hour.

Those numbers mean that if you're at an NHRA-sanctioned event and you want to run it full out and get those times, you're required to have a roll cage and also a parachute. And one of those parts Dodge will sell you directly because they sell you a drag chute. And it plugs into a mount behind the rear license plate.

They also offer a harness bar and some other parts and accessories to make it ready to go. The whole thing starts at just under $100,000. And it goes up from there. You can actually get a sunroof. But that'll cost you $10,000. And the reason for that is if you're buying this, you're buying it to go fast. And a sunroof doesn't help you go fast. And that's going to be an expensive add on for them to add at the factory. And-- I mean, people aren't looking to get that. This is the Challenger Demon 170. This is sending the Challenger out in an absolute blaze of glory.
