The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is the brand’s newer, bigger three-row crossover. It has a lot of space for passengers, their cargo and their beverages. It’s got a near-excessive amount of cupholders, but can any of them hold an oversized water bottle like a 32-ounce Nalgene? Take a look inside the Grand Highlander with us as we explore the drink-holding opportunities for three rows of mega-thirsty passengers. We like this SUV’s looks, space and available hybrid powertrain, though for the higher prices, we hope this ample interior can satisfy our fetish for huge water bottles.

JOHN SNYDER: Hello there, John Snyder with Autoblog here. And this is the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander. And I'm thirsty, so let's see if any of its numerous cup holders can accommodate an oversized water bottle like this here Nalgene.

So here we've got two. Nope. Nope. But that little storage cubby there looks like a perfect size. And in fact, that's where I've been putting it, and it works great. So good start.

Let's check the door. Little tight, but it fits nicely. That's awesome.

All right, moving to the back. There's a couple cup holders right there in the middle. Nope. Almost. So close.

There's none on the back of the console. Check the door. Again, fits perfectly.

Now, finally, these rear seats, they've got cup holders there and there. No middle thing to-- no center armrest to fold down, so let's check these. There's three on each side. Oh, not there, not there. Aha, it fits there. That's awesome.

So we've got a few places in here that you can stash a Nalgene, and just lots of cup holders in general. So like 1, 2, we'll count that as 3, 4, 5 in the doors, 6, 7 in the doors back here, 8, 9, and then 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. That is a lot of cup holders. And they're nice, accommodating ones, too.

So anyway, there it is. The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander works with the Nalgene. Thanks for watching.

2023 BMW M2 Nalgene test

Cupholders aren't exactly top priority in European sport coupes. As such, I wasn't particularly hopeful this 2023 BMW M2 would make a happy home for an oversized water bottle like a 32-ounce Nalgene. It's important that I try, though. There are literally tens of you that rely on this important …
